Tithing
Is tithing a command and is 10% scriptural? Below are a few New Testament scriptures regarding tithing and the main points are:

1) We give out of our love for The Lord and what he has done for us and not because we have to. It is our pleasure to give!
2) We give to play our part in supporting the work of The Lord which is ultimately the priceless salvation of souls.
3) There is no set amount as giving is again out of love and not out of compulsion but the more we invest in God's work the better as long as it is given to ministries that are actually doing God's work (see our list of worthy ministries).

2 Corinthians 9:8-9
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brothers, strangers as they are, who testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God. For they have gone out for the sake of the name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.

1 Corinthians 16:1-4
Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me.
