Major Church Errors Today
Sadly there are many errors that have infiltrated the church which must be corrected. Here is a list of some which may mention a personality promoting these errors.
Please pray for God's mercy and correction on The Bride of The Lamb!
Revelation 3:19
"Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent."
Prosperity Gospel - This is a major error which is in absolute contrast with what Jesus taught when he said in Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
1 John 2:15-17 also says "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
Yet despite this clear instruction the church is in headlong pursue of 'earthly treasure' with many boasting these earthly riches are God's blessing and proof of it. This false teaching was first introduced by Oral Roberts and then propagated by Kenneth Hagan, Kenneth Copeland (who was tutored by Hagan), Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes, John Hagee, Creflo Dollar, Paula White, Joyce Meyer, and Juanita Bynum who are a few of the leading televangelists who have commercialized the teaching of the prosperity gospel in our day. For decades, these men and women have broadcast a false gospel over the radio and on television channels such as the Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN). In this way, they have exported their false teaching to Africa, South America, and Asia as well. Read full article from Ligonier Ministries (RC Sproul) here.
This dangerous teaching's impact on the state of one's heart towards the real treasure of heaven cannot be overstated. Jesus said “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
I have personally experienced this mindset and thank God for the correction he gave me. Please re-examine where your treasure is because that is where your heart is!
Baptism of The Spirit - This is another extremely widespread and dangerous error that has infiltrated the body of Christ. I also have personal experience with this and I also received The Holy Spirit when I asked Jesus to be my Lord which is proof that receiving The Holy Spirit does not have to be evidenced by speaking in tongues (see my article on Tongues and Gifts). Here is what the scripture says about The Holy Spirit in the life of a believer...
John 14:15-17
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 15:26-27
“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.
Universalism - This is another extremely widespread and dangerous error that has infiltrated the body of Christ which renders the gospel absolutely tasteless and ineffective. What is does accomplish is giving those outside the body of Christ a false sense of salvation which in itself is a grievous sin! Essentially is all boils down to having God and the benefits therein on one's own terms which is not having God at all. This error extends from AA (alcoholics anonymous) to smiling (and blinking) Joel and everything in between.
Matthew 6:23
“...but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
-
Many have taken the tenants of Christianity and presented them to the world after first removing that which may be offensive. And the world is more than happy to receive these ear ticklers but believing that God can be received on one's own terms if pure fallacy and The Holy Spirit himself bears testimony to this so all know this is not receiving Chris at all!
Matthew 6:23
“...but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
John 16:8-11
"And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged."
-
AA - I have met many AA members that talk like they have received Christ but have absolutely no knowledge of the scriptures and avoid them like darkness avoids light. At first glance they sound like Christians until one peels away the veneer of their vernacular. The group was started by two so-called Christians who deliberately watered down the gospel message to make it more acceptable to the masses and in the end adherents do not possess the God of Christianity, but rather 'God as they understand him'.
John 3:19-21
And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
